Consumer & Payment Disputes
Refund & Chargeback Assistance
When a business will not give you the refund you are owed, we help you use your consumer rights, the card dispute process and, where needed, formal legal action to press your claim.
Overview
What this involves
A cancelled flight that was never refunded. A trip that bore no resemblance to what was sold. A contractor who took a deposit and disappeared. An online order that never arrived, or a bank that will not reverse a charge you did not make. Disputes like these are common and frustrating, and some companies count on customers giving up.
We help individuals and businesses pursue refunds effectively. We review the contract and terms you agreed to, identify the rights that may apply under consumer protection laws and card-network dispute rules, and choose the most proportionate route. That might be supporting a chargeback with your card issuer, or it might be a formal demand letter, negotiation, a small claims filing or arbitration.
Every dispute turns on its facts, the terms involved and the deadlines that apply. We cannot guarantee a refund. We will give you an honest view of your position and the most sensible way forward, including telling you when the cost of legal help would outweigh the amount at stake.
How We Help
How we can help
- Reviewing your position. We examine your contract, booking conditions, receipts and correspondence to establish what you are entitled to and what evidence supports your claim.
- Explaining your consumer protection rights. We identify the protections that may apply under federal and New York law, and under the rules of other jurisdictions where the business or transaction is based.
- Chargeback and dispute support. We help you prepare and document a dispute with your card issuer or bank within the applicable time limits, and respond if the merchant challenges it.
- Bank and payment disputes. We pursue disputes over unauthorized transactions, billing errors and payment-app transfers with the financial institutions involved.
- Demand letters. A formal letter from a law firm, setting out your claim and the legal basis for it, often prompts a response that informal complaints do not.
- Negotiation. We deal with the company, its customer-relations team or its lawyers to seek a refund, credit or other fair resolution.
- Regulatory complaints. Where appropriate, we help you file complaints with the relevant regulators or consumer protection agencies.
- Small claims and arbitration. If the dispute cannot be resolved, we help prepare a small claims case or represent you in arbitration where your contract requires it.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Is a refund guaranteed if I hire a lawyer?
No. Legal help can strengthen your position considerably, but the outcome depends on your rights, the evidence and the other party's response.
Is it worth using a lawyer for a smaller amount?
Sometimes not, and we will say so. If the cost of legal help is likely to be disproportionate, we will explain the self-help routes, such as a card dispute or a small claims filing, that may make more sense.
Are there deadlines?
Yes. Card chargebacks, bank disputes and legal claims all have time limits, some of them short. Contact your card issuer and speak to us as soon as possible.
